Welcome to the Rat's Shack brand new website! Enjoy your stay here.
January 01, 2009: Server was just upgraded recently with a 9400 GT to do absolutely FANTASTIC web hosting along with play HD movies. LOL... So right now she is doing the media center server thingy along with the web/e-mail server thingy. Brilliant! But being a media center pc it now has added bloat of Xorg along with xfce4, so so sad. I suppose it could only be running mythTV or an alternate but meh why not go all out? Server was also updated to Squeezy primarily for added VDPAU support with my video card. HD movies never played so flawlessly under linux via HDMIA. Hot diggety dog!
Auguest 23, 2009: So I went to Fused hosting for a little while and then back to my server again. Supposedly proxy scripts are looked down upon, I must say I disagree. Anyway, reformatted the computer now and put debian on it. We shall see how things turn out now with the abrupt change, it may just revert back to gentoo for the heck of it. Although I must say debian was an easy setup and using ISPCONFIGfor the backend makes things so much easier. Permanenet change, who knows...
September 05, 2008: Woh, how do I go from wasting only 200MBs of bandwith in the month of July to 8GBs in the month of August. O.o... School is in session.
April 11, 2008: Woops it seems that proxy isn't accessible anymore to some people. I hope it now works for people again. If it does not send me an email at rat at ratsshack [ . ] net. Thanks for the information!
February 03, 2008: Yep, it has defiently been a while since I last updated things, but oh well. The server maybe going up and down every once in a while because I am upgrading the kernel and setting up a VPN. Peace.
August 21, 2007: Well I suppose an update is needed. First thing is that I redid my gentoo server, and now the computer is totally dedicated. Although I do not have a static IP yet, which is right now a work in progress. Still working on genbin.net's content management system, but otherwise, everything seems to be running rather smoothly except my e-mail server still needs some work. Oh yes and revived my router via a JTAG cable, props to Ganack and Kingrat for actually making the cable and all.
May 2, 2007: Website and email will be down May 5, 2007(Saturday).
May 2, 2007: Well that was easier than I thought. Spent about 10 minutes on it and got it all setup. Wow, this is really nice. I now have two sites up: ratsshack.net and genbin.net. Enjoy!
April 29, 2007: As I said in my previous post this site maybe shutting down or it may be screwed up. I am right now trying to set-up another domain name for another wbesite off my IP. I am hoping it will be somewhat of an easy process with IP aliasing and changing some settings in the apache2 vhosts file. Who knows? We shall see sometime soon.
April 03, 2007: This website maybe shutdown for a while in the next week or two to change the websites domain name to something more suitable, and more efficent.
February 18, 2007: There are a few updates on the website to make it more compatible with all browsers, and I think I fixed the whole resolution problem with my site. Removed the forums, and changed a few things. If things go well I maybe moving to another domain soon.
January 8, 2007: Hehehe... I know the FBI splash screen is lame, but that is one hilarious way to scare off n00bs. :)
December 18, 2006: Yes, I know this site is a mess and will be fixed sometime soon. Actually it has been a mess for sometime. Although it looks great on all of my pcs.
December 1, 2006: Site will be closed December 2 for sure, and maybe December 3.
November 16, 2006 : Moving to a new website. I am changing this website to be http://ratsshack.net, instead of gentoo.ratsshack.net. Update your bookmarks. Thanks, Rat.
November 7, 2006 : I just created some binary packages for the x86. I am using the following CFLAGS with gcc :
-O2 -march=athlon-xp -msse2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointerI am in the process of making binary packages for use on the x86_64 system. I hope to get a little repository for the x86 group to. This will then make it easier for people to access binary packages for their specific system and may help solve some issues with computer screw-ups. The x86_64 packages have been compiled with these CFLAGS:
-march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
